From Diaries to Blogs

Writing has always been considered therapeutic throughout the years, and with the rapid rise of the Internet, the age-old therapy has rolled into a new phase – blogging. Apart from the many other fields that blogging now holds, personal blogs are still arguably one of the most popular forms and uses of blogging.

Web logs or commonly known as blogs are maintained by people by regularly posting entries of descriptions, commentary or events. Most often than not, these blogs turn into digital online journals that people share to the Internet and to the rest of the world.

Personal blogging has become a revolutionary way of self-expression and social networking. People have always found the need to articulate themselves, and the Internet has provided a fast, easy and convenient way for them to do so. With blogs, one doesn’t need a notebook that can possibly be destroyed or lost, or even be viewed by people who aren’t meant to see them. Some sites, like Wordpress blogs, also allow comments from other people making the entries less stale and more dynamic.

With the rise of many different sites that hosts blogs, more and more people have switched from traditional diaries to blogs. While few blogs garner an extensive following, there is also quite a handful that rises to distinction and into the mainstream.
